- I’ve been adding new content to The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia.
- I have been working with NYU Press on production of my next book, Capital of the World: The Race to Host the United Nations, which will be published in 2013.
- I have been doing research on the Cooper Street Historic District, including the history of the houses where the History Department is located. This is a start on a new book about urban development and historical memory — or possibly about connections between Camden and Philadelphia — or possibly about the transformations of Victorian-era professional-class neighborhoods.
- I presented conference papers at the annual meetings of the Cultural Studies Association and the Organization of American Historians/National Council on Public History. These travels also gave me the opportunity to extend my public history horizons by visiting the Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan Presidential Libraries and Museums and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- In May, I participated in a scholars’ site review for the Organization of American Historians and National Park Service at the Charlestown Navy Yard, part of Boston National Historical Park.
- In the spring, I was a Civic Engagement Faculty Fellow and developed a new syllabus for my fall semester section of Perspectives in History.
